The first annual Visma Chess Tournament
The elite gathers
It has been exactly 30 years since an international tournament has been organize in Småland. And it has never before been in Växjö.
Therefore, it is particularly thrilling to invite to Visma Chess Tournament 2013. The premiere will take place in the beautiful Växjö Konserthus on 26-30 June.
The idea of the competition is to give Swedish elite players the opportunity to win norms at home for the toughest titles in chess - International Master and Grandmaster. It is especially delighting that both the second and third at last year’s Swedish Championships in Falun, IM Bengt Lindberg and IM Axel Smith, will be coming to Växjö. And the two groups – a GM-group and IM-group – brings together players from Denmark, Iceland, Latvia, Spain and even India.
We hope that the competition will be a highlight for both chess lovers and curious who want to see a contest for real. And for all those who want to follow the exciting games live on the internet. One thing we can promise – we will do our very best for players and spectators to have five wonderful days in Växjö.
